First up is the most successful club to play in red in yellow in recent years. Turkish giants Galatasary. The Istanbul club is the home of great players such as Hagi and Sukur but they are perhaps most well known because of their notorious fans with their 'welcome to Hell' messages for opposing teams.
Galatasary have always been a powerful force in their home country, but in recent years they have also performed well in Europe. In 2000 they won the UEFA Cup, beating Arsenal in the final, and the following season they made it through to the second phase of the Champions League although failed to progress to the last 16.

Courtesy of Michael McLaren (who really should be studying) we have Malaysian Premier League side Selangor, 'the red giants', now how many of you have heard of them before! Their most famous (ex) player is former Everton star Tony Cottee. He spent a season with Selangor in 1996 after signing from West Ham but returned to England to sign for Leicester 10 months later. He obviously wasn't a popular player as an unofficial fan site states that 'TONY COTTEE IS A LIZARD'!.
Esperance are about as far removed from Thistle as is possible. They dominate Tunisian football, have won all the three African club trophies, and they are one of the richest clubs in Africa. They made headline news a few years ago when contesting the African Champions Cup final against Ghana's Hearts of Oak. The match was marred by rioting and missile throwing, and the game was held up for 20 minutes.
With his side 1-0 up, Esperance keeper Chokri El Ouaer cut himself above the eye in an attempt to get the match abandoned but the match officials saw what happened and the match went on. Then Esperance winger Walid Azaiez was sent off for headbutting a defender and when the furious player eventually left the pitch, he punched a policeman as he left the ground - you can read more details of the game here on the BBC website.
One of the more well know red and yellow teams, Italian side U.S. Lecce. Originally founded as a sporting club in 1908, US Lecce were born in 1927. They have spent most of their time in the Second Division of Italian football but they have also spent long periods as an amateur side in Serie C. But after winning promotion to the First Division for the first time in 1985 they became a well known side in the top division, winning promotion a further four times.
Unfortunately they never seem to last very long alongside teams like AC Milan, Juventus and Lazio and theirs is always a struggle to avoid relegation. Their only honours are winning the semi-professional Italy Cup and the Anglo-Italian Trophy in the late 70's.
